Welcome on Home Page of Jaroslav Šebestík
There are many resources related to my work and hobbies here. My research interests are interactions between nucleic acids, peptide conjugates and prions. This studies are aimed for deeper understanding of neurodegenerative diseases such as Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, BSE (Mad Cow Disease), Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. Potentially, it can serve for development of new drugs against above mentioned diseases. I have also experience with syntheses of metal chelator such as derivatives of 3-hydroxy-4-pyridinones and catechols. These structures are powerful metal ion binders, anti-oxidant and some of them inhibitors of enzymes such as AChE, etc. Recently, I and my colleagues, we are working on native chemical ligation of prion related proteins. From my pages, you can find citation and doi-powered links to articles describing results of my and my colleagues works. In my leisure time, I am developing software, which will be also available from these pages.
This page was re-launched 6th December 2006 as a continuation of my pages from uochb.cas.cz. The pages on N2.cz domain will be maintained until I can do it. Contemporary the pages are under construction, and they will be updated continuously.
